It is not uncommon to see instances where people have been punished for being truthful, while others who have lied their way through life have prospered. Such situations may be even more difficult for people to be honest because all these situations and environment made people mold themselves into a unique personality, turning them into chameleons, changing faces whenever needed.
In conclusion, there's one thing I'd suggest, "Be honest everywhere you need to be, else you needn't". You must not overcome your honesty and break your integrity unless you feel it would really be harmful...
